NCC/Scout & Guides
In Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), the Scouts & Guides and NCC (National Cadet Corps) programs are important co-curricular activities aimed at the overall development of students. Here’s a brief overview of both:
Scouts & Guides in KVS
- The Bharat Scouts & Guides is an integral part of KVS to instill discipline, community service, leadership, and outdoor survival skills in students.
- Activities include camping, hiking, social service, skill-building workshops, and more.
- Students can join as Cubs/Bulbuls at the primary level and as Scouts/Guides at the secondary level.
- Various levels of proficiency and ranks are awarded, such as Pratham Sopan, Dwitiya Sopan, Tritiya Sopan, Rajya Puraskar, and Rashtrapati Award.
NCC (National Cadet Corps) in KVS
- NCC is a youth development movement that aims to build leadership qualities, discipline, and a sense of patriotism among students.
- Junior Division (JD) NCC is offered in Kendriya Vidyalayas for boys and girls from Class 8 onwards.
- NCC activities include parade training, rifle shooting, obstacle courses, drills, social service, and adventure activities like trekking and mountaineering.
- Students also participate in NCC camps, Republic Day parades, and national-level events.
- It provides a platform for students to contribute to national integration and also opens opportunities for defense services.
Both programs play a crucial role in the character-building and physical development of students in Kendriya Vidyalayas.
